Platinum Career Center has begun a phased renewal of its official website (https://pcc-tokyo.org/) starting in June 2026. On June 8, the comprehensive top page, serving as the overall entry point to the site, along with pages for "Side Businesses/Concurrent Employment," "Job Changes," and "Career Design," were revamped. Additionally, a new page for the Tama region was established. This reorganization makes the site more user-friendly, allowing individuals aged 50 and over who are currently employed to select support tailored to their goals, ranging from "Side Businesses/Concurrent Employment" to "Job Changes" and "Career Design."

Background of the Renewal: Why Support for 50s Careers Now?

Japan's working-age population has been declining since peaking in 1995. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Information and Communications White Paper 2022" estimates a decrease of approximately 30% (29.2%) by 2050 compared to 2021. While labor shortages are a challenge, measures such as the amendment of the Act on Stabilization of Employment of Elderly Persons, which makes securing employment opportunities up to age 70 a duty to endeavor, are progressing to create an environment where people can continue working longer. Against this backdrop, it is becoming increasingly important for companies and society to expand opportunities for experienced individuals aged 50 and over to contribute in diverse ways.

Platinum Career Center was established as a support hub for "side businesses/concurrent employment" (a new way of working) by active individuals aged 50 and over. Concurrently, the center also provides support for "job changes" and "career design" as part of its services.

This renewal consolidates this expanded support into a single website, organized for ease of use according to users' objectives. Individuals who are unsure where to start or wish to consider future work styles while continuing their current jobs can now more easily find the information they need by navigating to pages related to their interests.

Key Points of the Renewal

1. Structure Allowing Selection of Three Support Types Based on Objectives

The structure has been organized to allow users to choose from the following support options based on their goals:

Side Businesses/Concurrent Employment: Support for experienced individuals aged 50 and over to succeed in side businesses or concurrent employment. Through seminars, individual consultations, information provision, introduction of commissioned work, and opportunities for interaction with companies, we provide comprehensive support from knowledge acquisition to practical application and continuation.

Job Changes: A program to support individuals aged 50 and over who are currently employed in becoming valuable assets to small and medium-sized enterprises. This program, consisting of a "Intensive Job Change Support Course" and "Individual Support by Experts," facilitates everything from career assessment to job searching activities. Opportunities to connect with companies, such as joint job fairs, are also provided.

Career Design: A program for individuals aged 50 and over who wish to carefully consider their future work styles and plan their next steps. In addition to an intensive short-term course for organizing past experiences and skills to envision a fulfilling future career, individual consultations with experts and networking events with companies help clarify future career directions.

2. New Page Established for the Tama Region

Individual consultations, previously held at the Platinum Career Center in Toranomon, began as outreach consultations in the Tama region (Tachikawa) in April 2026. In conjunction with this, mini-seminars are also planned, leading to the creation of a new page for residents and workers in the Tama region.

The venue, Tokyo Work Center Tama, is conveniently located a 4-minute walk from the South Exit of JR Tachikawa Station. You can have in-depth one-on-one consultations with specialized advisors on how to start and manage side businesses/concurrent employment, and how to think about your future career based on your past experiences. Outreach individual consultations are generally held on the second Wednesday and fourth Friday of each month.

To All Individuals Aged 50 and Over

Whether you want to start a side business, are considering a job change, or want to organize your future work style – the reasons vary. Your past experiences are a significant strength when considering your future career.

Platinum Career Center is a public support hub that individuals aged 50 and over who are currently employed can use free of charge. In addition to consultations in Toranomon and Tama, online consultations are also available.

On the renewed website, you can view the pages for "Side Businesses/Concurrent Employment," "Job Changes," and "Career Design" from the comprehensive top page (https://pcc-tokyo.org/). Please feel free to browse the themes that interest you.
