Progressive Works launches 'markup', a Markdown polishing and PDF export app for macOS/iOS

Progressive Works (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shotaro Chiba) has released the macOS and iOS versions of "markup," an application designed to format Markdown documents into readable, professional PDFs.

Markdown is a document format that uses text to describe structures like headings, bullet points, and links. While convenient for AI interactions, notes, drafts, and technical writing, Markdown documents can be difficult for recipients to read in their raw form. "markup" serves as a "polishing app" that allows users to view Markdown in a readable preview and export it as a PDF, assisting in turning AI-generated text or daily notes into shareable, submittable documents.

- Local Processing: No data (Markdown, filenames, diagram definitions, or LaTeX sources) is sent to external servers. Previews and PDF exports are handled entirely on the user's device. - Broad Expression Support: The app supports GitHub Flavored Markdown, code blocks, LaTeX math formulas, Mermaid diagrams, and PlantUML charts. - Customizable Output: Users can select fonts, syntax themes, and adjust display styles according to their needs and audience.

As the professional use of generative AI and AI agents grows, managing processing volume and usage costs becomes increasingly important. Instead of forcing AI to produce perfectly styled output, it is more practical to treat AI tasks in lightweight Markdown and use "markup" to format them only when sharing or submitting.
