Recently, biomass utilization has been shifting toward high-value-added resource utilization models that integrate fuels and materials. Microwave technology is being considered and utilized as a means for this advanced utilization. This seminar will introduce case studies of microwave technology in biomass pretreatment, conversion, residue utilization, and circular use, while explaining the differences from conventional heating, implementation effects, and research and development trends. The title is "Possibilities of Biomass x Microwaves: Volume Reduction, Carbonization, Refining, etc." It is recommended for those considering applications in biomass processing or conversion, those interested in creating value from unused biomass, and those considering biomass pretreatment that fits existing processes. The dates are Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 12:00 to 12:45, and Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 20:00 to 20:45 (both sessions cover the same content). Participation is free. The speaker will be Keiji Kitani from the Research and Development Department.
