Meichans Life LLC (Headquarters: Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Representative: Yayoi Tamura), which plans and designs rental properties, has created the authentic tea house 'Shukuo-an.' It is set to open on May 24, 2026, by the Shukugawa River in Nishinomiya.

Born in this area known for its cherry blossom trees and clear streams, this tea ceremony space allows guests to sit on chairs and enjoy tea without needing to perform seiza (traditional Japanese sitting posture), even while wearing shoes. It is a new cultural hub for the city, aimed at those who wish to incorporate tea ceremony into their daily lives, those interested but find it daunting, and those who dislike seiza but love tea and sweets.

This authentic tea house, located on the first floor of a residential building, is a rare form in Japan. To commemorate its opening on May 24, 2026, we will hold an unveiling event.

Shukuo-an is an authentic tea house located on the first floor of a rental residence.

The tea ceremony can be part of daily life without needing to go to a special place. This place was born from the owner's desire to reconnect the rich times that once existed in this area, blending with nature and culture, with a modern sensibility—and our desire to bring back the richness of the five senses into daily life.

Shukuo-an features a nijiriguchi (low entrance door). This small door, which requires bowing to enter the tea room. In the world of tea ceremony, passing through it transitions one from daily life to a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

On the other hand, it also has a Ritsurei (standing bow) space with chairs where guests can enter with their shoes on. Those who find seiza difficult, or those new to tea, can relax and enjoy sweets, matcha, and the tea preparation (otemae) as they are.

Authentic tranquility and casual openness. These two coexist in the same space.
