Born in this area known for its cherry blossom trees and clear streams, this tea ceremony space allows guests to enjoy tea while seated in chairs with their shoes on, eliminating the need for seiza. It is a new cultural hub in this town for those who wish to incorporate tea ceremony into their daily lives, those interested but find it intimidating, and those who dislike seiza but love tea and sweets.

This authentic tea room, located on the first floor of a residence, is a rare form in Japan. To commemorate its opening on May 24, 2026, an unveiling event will be held.

――A tea room within a home.

Shukuo-an is an authentic tea room located on the first floor of a rental residence.

Tea ceremony becomes part of daily life without needing to go to a special place. The owner's desire to reconnect with the rich times of nature and culture that once existed here, combined with our desire to bring back the richness of the five senses into daily life, led to the creation of this place.

――Two faces: authenticity and openness.

Shukuo-an features a nijiriguchi (crawling-in entrance). This small door, through which one bends down to enter the tea room, symbolizes leaving daily life behind and entering a once-in-a-lifetime moment in the world of tea ceremony.

On the other hand, it also has a riurei (standing bow) space with chair seating where guests can enter with their shoes on. Even those who find seiza difficult or are new to tea can comfortably sit and enjoy sweets, matcha, and temae (tea preparation).

Authentic tranquility and casual openness coexist in the same space.
