On June 12, 2026, Medidata, a Dassault Systèmes brand and leading provider of clinical trial solutions for the life sciences industry, and Cogstate Ltd. announced a strategic partnership in the field of electronic Clinical Outcome Assessments (eCOA) to accelerate the digitalization of CNS clinical trials in Japan and provide better treatment options for patients.
According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in September 2025, Japan's population aged 65 and over reached 36.19 million, accounting for 29.4% of the total population, the highest ratio globally. With the number of elderly people with dementia projected to reach 5.8 million by 2040, the development of new drugs for CNS diseases, such as Alzheimer's, is a top priority in Japan.
Medidata is strengthening its collaboration with Cogstate by integrating its robust clinical development platform with Cogstate’s digital cognitive assessment solutions to provide a consistent digital environment for CNS clinical trials. By leveraging Medidata Rave EDC and eCOA functions, the partnership aims to improve scoring accuracy and reduce the burden on evaluators through upgraded data capture capabilities.
Dr. Maiko Sakamoto of Saga University, an authority in neuropsychology, has joined Cogstate’s clinical and scientific network to optimize CNS evaluations for the Japanese clinical landscape and regulatory requirements. Together, Medidata and Cogstate will support the implementation of science-based eCOA and advance Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCTs) to expedite the delivery of breakthrough treatments to patients.
