The Heatstroke Prevention Project office (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Secretariat Chief/Social Entrepreneur: Taro Yamashita) will hold the 'Prepare for a Hot Summer! Hitosuzumi Matsuri in Yurakucho Station Square' at Yurakucho Station Square on May 30 (Sat) from 11:00 to 18:00.
In this event, before the rainy season and the arrival of intense heat, the project aims to educate the public on 'preparing for a hot summer' through a hands-on event where participants can sing, dance, and experience learning about heatstroke prevention.
The theme is 'Hitosuzumi Matsuri' (Cool-off Festival). The venue will create a festive atmosphere, offering six interactive activities to make learning about heatstroke prevention fun and engaging. *All activities are free of charge.
Interactive Activities:
1. 'Hitosuzumi Ondo' (Cool-off Dance) Performance Participants will dance to the 'Hitosuzumi Ondo,' a dance-based educational content for heatstroke prevention. *Performance times: (1) 11:30-11:50, (2) 13:30-13:50, (3) 14:30-14:50, (4) 15:30-15:50, (5) 16:30-16:50.
2. 'Salt Shaved Ice' Free Distribution An interactive corner where participants learn where to cool down and receive free salt shaved ice as a heat measure.
3. 'Defeat Heatstroke!' Shooting Corner An experiential activity where participants shoot down incorrect heatstroke measures.
4. 'Learn About Heatstroke' Ball Toss Corner An experiential activity where participants toss balls at correct heatstroke measures.
5. 'Cool Experience' Corner Utilizing highly heat-shielding tent materials, participants can experience heat protection measures. In partnership with Chiyoda City, a temporary 'Hitosuzumi Spot' (rest area) will be provided, featuring water dispensers inside the high-shielding tent, allowing for hydration while resting.
6. 'Learn About Proper Heat Acclimatization' Ring Toss Corner An experiential activity where participants learn about heat acclimatization—a necessary action for coping with intense heat—through a ring toss game.
All experiential contents are designed to funly teach heatstroke prevention, which is crucial during this season. Participants will receive free heat-prevention items provided by special supporting companies.
Participation is completely free. By joining this event before the intense heat sets in, the project hopes to help many people gain correct knowledge for a long, hot summer.
About the Heatstroke Prevention Project: This is a nation-wide project involving local governments, public offices, companies, and private organizations working together to prevent heatstroke. Started in 2011, it is now in its 16th year.
Our goal is to reduce heatstroke deaths to zero through the power of communication—'reaching out' to one another. The project is led by an executive committee of experts such as doctors and university professors, carrying out awareness activities nation-wide with the support of member companies and municipalities.
