Expo Bharat Festival 2026 SUMMER (Biryani Festival)

The Japan Expo Bharat Association (Representative Director: Kiyoharu Shimizu), an general incorporated association dedicated to preserving the records and legacy of the Bharat Pavilion (India Pavilion) at the Osaka-Kansai Expo (2025) and promoting cultural exchange, will hold the "Expo Bharat Festival 2026 SUMMER (Biryani Festival)" on August 22 (Fri.) and 23 (Sat.), 2026, at the Expo Commemoration Park (Ueno-hiroba). We are also recruiting vendors and sponsors. Furthermore, to secure ongoing funding, we have launched a project on "CAMPFIRE," one of Japan's largest crowdfunding platforms, and began accepting contributions on July 5 (Sat.) at 5:00 PM. The contribution period is from July 5 (Sun.), 2026, to July 31 (Fri.), with a funding goal of 500,000 yen.

Osaka's "Super Hot" Biryani Festival 2026! Connecting the Expo and Indian Summer Festival with Spices

This festival will feature the "Biryani Festival," where Osaka's top 3 biryanis from the Osaka-Kansai Expo (Bharat, Nepal, and Pakistan), along with carefully selected authentic biryanis from across the country, will gather in Osaka. Here, you can discover regional flavors you wouldn't normally encounter and experience new culinary delights with dishes infused with exquisite spices. Additionally, the event will offer a comprehensive experience of Indian culture, including a merchandise area featuring authentic Indian food, sweets, crafts, traditional clothing, and accessories; live performances of authentic Indian dance and music; yoga experience workshops; and sports events like Kabaddi and Cricket.

We hope that through this summer festival, which can be enjoyed by families, friends, couples, and everyone, attendees will experience the wonderfulness of multicultural coexistence.

Bharat Biryani Retort Pouch

The chicken biryani that captivated many visitors at the Bharat Pavilion.

A rich flavor and aroma created by fragrant basmati rice, generous chunks of tender chicken, and over 20 types of spices.

It was a highly sought-after dish, buzzing on social media as "No. 1!" and drawing long queues.

"I want to taste that authentic flavor again!"

"Can't I recreate it easily at home...?" In response to such requests, we developed this product!

We held monthly after-event parties five times in total, enjoying authentic Indian cuisine along with Bollywood dance shows, mini-exhibits of the Bharat Pavilion, and photo opportunities with the mascot Mayur.

First Import to Japan of Products Introduced at the Expo

"Import and Sale of 'Ulrong Tea,' the Jewel of Northeast Indian Tea'"

Ulrong Tea

We were the first in Japan to import and sell "Ulrong Tea," a premium tea from Meghalaya, which was first introduced in Japan in the "State Government Building" area of the pavilion.

It is currently sold on Bharat Market and Amazon. It is always a popular item at party venues and event booths.

We will soon begin importing and selling "perfume made from natural agarwood," which was also introduced at the pavilion.

At the Bharat Pavilion

I worked as an interpreter and attendant at the Bharat Pavilion for the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. I was completely captivated by the rich culture of India (Bharat) that I encountered there. Even after the expo, wanting to keep that excitement alive, I have been planning and operating post-expo events, recreating foods like biryani sold at the pavilion at the time, and selling India-related products, receiving a great response from many people.

What we value most now is

"Connecting the memories and excitement of the Bharat Pavilion to the future."

We are engaged in preserving and sharing valuable records from that time, cultural exchange through events, providing related products and services, and disseminating information.

Our ultimate long-term goal is to revive the Bharat Pavilion on Yumeshima, and we continue our activities daily towards this aim.
