Anime Tokyo Station, an exhibition hub for Japanese anime operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Association of Japanese Animations, has welcomed 296,471 visitors (as of June 7, 2026) from Japan and abroad, with the motto "Making Anime More Interesting, Carrying Anime to the Future."

This summer, Anime Tokyo Station plans to hold various special events under the title "Anime Tokyo Station's Summer Festival 2026."

The first event in this series is the "TOKIO Exciting Anime Workshop." This workshop is designed for elementary and junior high school students and will be held over two days: Friday, August 21st, and Saturday, August 22nd. Participants will learn about stop-motion animation, the principles of animation, sound expression, and the production process, after which they will collaborate to create an anime using tablets.

Actual anime production involves communication and cooperation among various staff members to complete a single work. Experiencing this production process through a workshop provides an opportunity to learn the importance of flexible communication and proactive engagement, fostering children's awareness and growth. The created anime will be provided as data at a later date, making it a recommended activity for summer vacation research projects.

Information on other workshops and events planned for "Anime Tokyo Station's Summer Festival 2026" will be announced on the official website and social media channels.

Through these unique events at Anime Tokyo Station, participants can enjoy "learning, experiencing, and challenging" themselves, and through the familiar medium of "anime," they are sure to discover a new side of themselves.
