Four Municipalities in Kumano Area Sign 'Tourism Emergence Partnership Agreement'

The Shingu City Tourism Association, Nachikatsuura Tourism Organization, Taiji Town Tourism Association, and Kitayama Village Tourism Association signed a 'Tourism Emergence Partnership Agreement' on May 27, 2026, to promote wide-area tourism in the Kumano area. This agreement aims to complement each region's tourism resources to create new value. While the Kumano area is rich in resources like the World Heritage 'Kumano Kodo' and hot springs, it faces challenges such as population decline, necessitating a shift toward 'value creation for the entire region' through wide-area cooperation. Future initiatives include integrated promotion, product development, and data sharing. For the inbound market, the organizations will propose 5-7 day tour routes starting from Kansai International Airport to increase length of stay and promote travel throughout the region.
