The AI LegalTech Association (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; AILTA) is pleased to announce that Miki Fujita, Representative Director and CEO of Lisse Co., Ltd., and an attorney qualified in Japan and New York, has been appointed as the new Representative Director, effective June 1, 2026.

AILTA has been dedicated to the sound development of legal tech, focusing on promoting technology utilization in the legal field, establishing rules, and conducting educational activities.

In recent years, the rapid advancement of technologies, including generative AI, has brought the use of AI and technology in the legal sector to a new stage. Given this situation, by having a business operator who actually develops and provides legal tech services serve as the Representative Director, we will promote the use of AI and technology in legal affairs in a more practical and highly reliable manner, while also advancing appropriate rule-making.

AILTA will continue to work with members from diverse backgrounds, including law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal tech companies, to foster a fair and sound AI legal tech market.

Takayuki Matsuo, a partner attorney at Matsuo, Matsuo & Namba Law Office and a New York State attorney, who served as Representative Director until May 31, 2026, will continue to participate in AILTA's activities as a board member.

<Profile> Graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law; LL.M. from Duke University School of Law. After passing the bar exam and completing legal training, joined Nishimura & Asahi in 2001. After studying in the U.S. and working at a New York law firm, became a partner in 2013. Left the firm in 2018 and established Lisse Co., Ltd.

<Inaugural Comment> I am deeply honored to have been appointed as the Representative Director of AILTA. While the rapid progress of AI technology is expanding its use in the legal field, the importance of reliability and appropriate operation is also increasing. As someone who develops and provides legal tech services, I will value a practical perspective and, through dialogue with diverse stakeholders—including law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal tech providers—work to create an environment where these tools can be used with peace of mind and promote the highly reliable use of AI and technology. Furthermore, I will strive to contribute to the development of appropriate rules and a healthy market, aiming to balance the advancement of AI in the legal field with social trust.
