Chiba City and General Incorporated Association Spice Collaborate to Open "Chishiro Base," a New Temporary Space for Youth

General Incorporated Association Spice (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) will open "Chishiro Base," a youth-oriented space, at the Chiroshi Community Center in Wakaba Ward, Chiba City, starting in August 2026, as the operating organization for Chiba City's "Demonstration Project for Creating Youth Spaces."

This project aims to create spaces in the community where young people can spend their time freely and with peace of mind, and to verify their needs and operational methods to inform the future development of youth spaces in Chiba City.

A place where you can feel "it's okay to do nothing."

A "third place" that is not school, home, or a part-time job.

Chishiro Base aims to be a place where you can be yourself, whether you want to talk to someone or spend time alone quietly.

You can study, read books, play board games, talk with staff, or plan events – how you spend your time is up to you.

Additionally, youth staff and volunteers of similar age will be stationed there to create an environment where young people can naturally connect with each other.

About Operations

This project is operated by General Incorporated Association Spice as part of Chiba City's "Demonstration Project for Creating Youth Spaces."

Spice has continuously engaged with diverse young people through the operation of the youth support center "PRISM" and through youth-led events, career support, and community activities.

In this project, we will verify the nature of "spaces truly needed by the community" together with Chiba City, while valuing the voices of young people themselves.

Future Plans

Based on the voices and usage of young people obtained through this project, we will work to enhance youth spaces in Chiba City in the future.

A second space is planned to open around Autumn 2026 in Mihama Ward.

Since the opening of "Chiba Youth Center PRISM" in September 2024, we have continued to engage with young people in the community. Based on our initiatives at Chiba Youth Center PRISM, we will contribute to the community by exploring ways to provide "youth support" that meets the needs of young people living in Chiba City.
