本活動源自於2020年後振興日本的BEYOND 2020 NEXT FORUM(內閣府認證事業),並於2023年獲得聯合國總部認證「The Children’s Conference of the Future in Support of United Nations」的國內推廣活動。這是一個以SDGs(永續發展目標)為觀點，讓孩子們分組討論「想要居住、想要持續居住、想要參與的未來鎌倉」並發表創意的工坊型活動。此外，將從孩子們發表的創意中選出最優秀獎。
獲選為最優秀獎的團體，將能代表鎌倉市參加預定於令和9年3月在東京都舉辦的「第七屆聯合國兒童未來會議」。

◆關於聯合國兒童未來會議
聯合國兒童未來會議於2019年作為東京奧運、帕運公認計畫啟動。目前在獲得外務省、東京都後援，並於2023年2月獲得聯合國認證後展開。本活動每年匯集世界各地的兒童，以SDGs為主軸，共同探討和平富裕的世界，是個交流和平溝通的場合，並於2022年度起開始國內推廣。本次為鎌倉市首次舉辦。
