Orinami, operated by Sangyo Co., Ltd. (Taito City, Tokyo), has enhanced its group reception system for school trips and educational outings, and has begun offering special programs for schools and travel agencies.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in experiential programs that allow students to engage with local culture and traditional crafts during school trips and educational outings. In response to the increasing demand for hands-on learning experiences, our facility has expanded its capacity to accommodate educational travel groups.
Creating Lasting Travel Memories
At Orinami, participants can experience crafting a one-of-a-kind amulet using threads blessed at a local shrine. By selecting their own threads and weaving fabric by hand, which is then made into an amulet pouch, visitors can experience the joy of creation and connect with Japan’s amulet culture.
Learning About the History of Cotton in Japan
The Asakusa store opened in June 2024, followed by the Asakusa-Koenmae store in June 2025. To date, approximately 30,000 people have experienced the workshop, including around 10,000 international tourists. It has become a popular cultural tourism activity in Asakusa, allowing visitors to experience traditional Japanese culture firsthand. Additionally, about 100 students have participated through school trips and educational outings.
