Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that HOPE WEAR, the concept model of SOLAMENT®, the material technology invented by Sumitomo Metal Mining, has received a Silver Cube (Silver Award) in the Product Design category at the 105th ADC Awards, an international advertising award.

The ADC Awards, established in 1920 to honor outstanding advertising and design, is the world’s longest-running continuously held international award. SOLAMENT® is a material technology developed by Sumitomo Metal Mining using patented near-infrared absorbing nano-particles, for which the company holds intellectual property rights both in Japan and overseas. While transmitting visible light, it absorbs near-infrared rays that cause temperature increases, making it widely applicable in heat-shielding applications across industries such as automotive, construction, outdoor gear, apparel, and agriculture.

HOPE WEAR is a wearable concept designed around the theme of 'liberating people and clothing from heat.' At this year’s ADC Awards, the product design was recognized for effectively communicating the innovative nature and value of SOLAMENT® through its approach to global challenges such as climate change. The branding and rollout of SOLAMENT®, including HOPE WEAR, are being developed in collaboration with Droga5 Tokyo, a creative agency under Accenture Song.

Sumitomo Metal Mining will continue to accelerate the deployment of SOLAMENT® across diverse fields as a material contributing to the resolution of societal challenges.
