The Japan Sewerage Association will hold the "Sewerage Exhibition '26 Tokyo," the largest exhibition in the sewerage sector in Japan, for four days from August 4 (Tue) to August 7 (Fri), 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight.
This exhibition marks its 38th year and is the largest in the sewerage field in Japan. This year, a record 417 companies and organizations are scheduled to exhibit.
At this exhibition, the latest technologies, equipment, and services across a wide range of sewerage-related fields will be displayed and introduced to local government officials nationwide, who manage sewerage projects, based on the results of technological development by sewerage-related companies (organizations) from across the country.
The sewerage sector faces numerous challenges, including the need for renovations due to aging infrastructure, flood control measures to prepare for frequent heavy rains, declining revenue from sewerage usage fees due to population decrease, and a weakened management system due to staff shortages. To address these issues, it is necessary to strategically promote projects by actively incorporating the know-how and ingenuity of private companies in addition to the efforts of public administrations. The Sewerage Exhibition will implement various initiatives, including seminars, to enable local governments nationwide to efficiently gather information on the latest technologies and equipment that can solve their challenges.
Highlights of "Sewerage Exhibition '26 Tokyo"
◎Two New Zones for Infrastructure DX!
The sewerage sector is facing challenges such as aging infrastructure, labor shortages, and responses to frequent and intensifying heavy rains, necessitating the promotion of DX and the streamlining of maintenance and management.
Therefore, Sewerage Exhibition '26 Tokyo will feature two new zones. The first is the "IT/DX Zone," which will showcase AI, software, digital twins, and more. The second is the "No Entry Pipeline Inspection Zone," which will introduce remote-controlled equipment such as drones and robots, as well as the latest image analysis technologies. Cutting-edge technologies and products for safe and efficient pipeline inspection and surveys, which are urgent issues in the sewerage business, as well as technologies and products that contribute to pipeline integrity and longevity, will be presented.
◎Special Seminar: "The Future of Sewerage Opened by Infrastructure DX"!
Sewerage management is currently undergoing a transformation. Initiatives combining infrastructure and AI/DX are accelerating in various fields, including the development of an AI-driven road space anomaly detection system manageable with 3D data by Akarui (Akari) and Infroonia Holdings, and support for building platforms to improve the operational efficiency of water and sewerage by IBM Japan.
This seminar will feature leading experts in the field discussing the current challenges and future prospects of how the sewerage business can be transformed through AI utilization and DX promotion.
