The Osaka Industrial Bureau has announced the launch of the 'Startup Initial program OSAKA (SIO) Acceleration' for the 2026 fiscal year. This program provides specialized support necessary for launching and expanding seed-stage startups.
In the previous year's program, half of the 12 participants (6 startups) achieved significant milestones, such as collaborations with corporations, successful fundraising, acquisition of first users, and selection for advanced growth programs. Past participants highlighted the value of feedback from veteran entrepreneurs and VCs, which helped refine their business models and customer value propositions.
Over a period of approximately six months, the program offers practical support including continuous mentoring by experienced experts, hypothesis testing tailored to business phases, pitch polishing, and fundraising preparation.
Furthermore, the 2026 program features a newly established category called 'Inbound Starters.' This track is designed for foreign entrepreneurs aiming to expand their business in the Japanese market starting from Osaka and pursue further global growth. This initiative aims to encourage domestic participants to adopt a global mindset by interacting with international entrepreneurs across cultural boundaries.
Prior to the program's start, a special event featuring mentors and past participants will be held on June 24, 2026.
Key Features of the Program: - Approximately six months of practical support (10+ mentoring sessions, business model workshops, etc.). - Specialized consultation opportunities with VCs, financial institutions, and corporations. - Interaction with foreign entrepreneurs through the 'Inbound Starters' category to push for global-market-ready business models.
Eligibility: - Startups within approximately 3 years of founding, or those preparing for founding. - Must be based in the Osaka/Kansai region or plan to establish a base there during the program. - For 'Inbound Starters': Foreign entrepreneurs with a strong will to accelerate global expansion from Osaka and Japanese proficiency (equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher).
