On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the Amada Foundation (based in Isehara, Kanagawa; Representative Director and Chairperson: Tamotsu Isobe) held the '2026 Research Achievements Presentation' as a concurrent event to OPIE’26 at Pacifico Yokohama. By directly disseminating research outcomes to the industrial sector, the foundation aims to contribute to technological development and the creation of a prosperous society.
The themes of this year's event were 'Laser Processing: Laser Sources Opening New Processing Domains' and 'Plastic Deformation: High-Speed Plastic Deformation and Processing.' Presentations featured research projects previously funded by the foundation that align with these themes.
The event was held in a hybrid format, attracting a total of 255 participants, with 185 attending in person and 70 participating online.
Established in 1987, the Amada Foundation celebrates its 39th anniversary this year. To date, it has provided research grants for 2,483 projects, totaling 4.58 billion yen. To address challenges faced by Japan's academic community and manufacturing industry, the foundation is dedicated to three missions: promoting academic research and new technology creation, disseminating research results to the industrial sector, and cultivating human resources in manufacturing.
