The Yokohama Archives of History and the Yokohama City Archives of History have collaborated to supervise the production of historical panels installed on the 2nd floor of Yokohama Marine Tower. The panels cover six themes, including the tower's history as a lighthouse, Commodore Perry's landing in Yokohama, and the formation of the city's landscape. Yokohama Marine Tower opened in 1961 as a lighthouse illuminating Yokohama Port and was the tallest lighthouse in the world at the time. Although it ceased its role as a lighthouse in 2008, it remains a beloved symbol of Yokohama. Visitors are encouraged to stop by while exploring nearby tourist spots like Yamashita Park and Chinatown.
