The Telecommunications Advancement Foundation (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Eiji Makiguchi) began accepting applications for the 42nd Telecommunications Advancement Foundation Awards on June 1, 2026. These awards serve as a gateway for young researchers.

The potential of information and communications lies at the intersection of technology and society. For the 2026 awards, we are seeking outstanding books and research papers that contribute to the development of ICT in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, System Technology, and Interdisciplinary Research. The "Telecom Interdisciplinary Research Award," which connects knowledge across multiple fields to create social impact, is particularly highlighted.

[Eligibility] (1)-(3) General Awards: Authors of books or research papers. (4)-(6) Student Awards: Students currently enrolled or within one year of graduation who conducted research while enrolled.

[Award Categories] (1) Humanities and Social Sciences: Research on the impact of ICT on society, law, economy, and culture. (2) System Technology: Research on the development and application of ICT from a technical/engineering perspective. (3) Interdisciplinary Research: Research that does not fit directly into the above categories, including social implementation, startups, and patents.

[Prizes] General: Up to 5 winners (1 million JPY each), several incentive awards (500,000 JPY each), and a special award (2 million JPY). Student: Up to 10 winners (500,000 JPY each), 5 incentive awards (300,000 JPY each), and a top prize (800,000 JPY or more).
