JTRF Scholarship Program for Young Japanese Tennis Talent Opens Applications for Second Cohort; New 'Mid-term Program' Established for Consistent Support

The Japan Private Trust Foundation (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Takayuki Sato) has announced that it will begin accepting applications for the second cohort of its 'Short-term Study Abroad Program' under the 'Japan Tennis Rising Fund (JTRF)' project starting Friday, May 29, 2026. In the 2025 fiscal year, four junior players aged 12 to 16 participated in the first cohort at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, achieving remarkable results in major domestic and international tournaments. Ryoma Otorie won the boys' singles at 'Les Petits As,' a first for a Japanese player, while Ayaka Iwasa won the girls' singles at the 'Junior Orange Bowl.' This program aims to overcome geographical disadvantages by subsidizing tennis study abroad expenses for junior high and high school students. The second cohort will select 4-5 players for a one-week program in November 2026. Furthermore, a new 'Mid-term Study Abroad Program' has been established this year. Serving as a gateway, the short-term program will lead to the selection of participants for a 10-week training period, supported by 3 million yen in activity grants to ensure continuous development.
