<Lecture 1> Title: Understanding Aging and Extending Healthy Lifespan Lecturer: Professor Shin Nakanishi (Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo) Summary: "Aging" is full of mysteries. If aging can be prevented, various diseases might be prevented. This lecture will explain the currently understood mechanisms of aging and discuss whether aging can be prevented or improved.
<Lecture 2> Title: Chronic Kidney Disease and Aging Lecturer: Professor Takayuki Hamano (Graduate School of Medicine, Nagoya City University) Summary: Kidney function declines with "aging." The increase in dialysis patients is due to aging. As kidney function declines, blood vessels and the heart also age. Currently, a drug that helps prevent aging has become covered by insurance. This lecture will introduce the relationship between kidneys and aging.
