Tokyo Metropolitan University and meijo University Sign Comprehensive Partnership Memorandum

Tokyo Metropolitan University and meijo University signed a comprehensive partnership memorandum on July 8, 2026. This memorandum aims to promote the development of human resources who can contribute to solving social issues and creating new value through mutual cooperation and collaboration between the two universities, as well as to enhance university education and streamline university operations to achieve this.

Through this partnership, Tokyo Metropolitan University's Faculty of Co-creation, scheduled to open in April 2028, will collaborate with meijo University to deepen students' interdisciplinary and practical learning by leveraging different regional characteristics in educational research and through faculty collaboration.

Furthermore, various exchanges will be promoted, including providing opportunities for students to study in different regions (domestic study abroad) and take unique university courses through mutual student exchange.

Location: Tokyo Metropolitan University Minami-Osawa Campus (1-1 Minami-Osawa, Hachioji-shi, Tokyo)

Features: Offers new learning that addresses issues by organically linking five domains—regional society, international politics, development economics, urban science, and ecological conservation—without being bound by the frameworks of humanities and sciences. The primary language of instruction will be English, aiming to develop human resources who can thrive globally.

Opening Period: Opened April 1994 / Transitioned to Public University Corporation in 2010

Enrollment Capacity: 595 students International Faculty 340 students (Department of International Culture 180 students, Department of International Tourism Industry 160 students) Faculty of Human Health Sciences 255 students (Department of Sports and Health 95 students, Department of Nursing 80 students, Department of Health Informatics 80 students)

Location: 1220-1 Tame, Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture

Features: Fostering internationally-minded individuals with balanced intellect and sensibility and well-rounded personalities, based on the founding philosophy of "Peace, Freedom, and Progress," the university offers "Liberal Arts Education."

The Faculty of International Studies cultivates the ability to think critically and logically, practice intellectual ethics, and deepen specialized knowledge from an early stage based on broad general education to solve increasingly diverse, complex, and advanced social issues, nurturing human resources who can succeed in Japan and globally.

The Faculty of Human Health Sciences, with the basic philosophy of learning how humans can live better lives with enriched minds and bodies, aims to develop "health support personnel" and "nurses" through scientific inquiry and investigation in "sports," "health," "nursing," and "data science."
