Social Background and Significance
Japan's aging society is currently at a critical juncture. As of 2022, an estimated 'one in every 3.6' people aged 65 or older are living with dementia or its prodromal stage (MCI). This represents more than just a medical or nursing care issue; it is a massive societal loss causing a decline in national labor productivity and placing pressure on national finances through increased social security costs (medical and nursing care insurance).
Particularly severe are the 'aging of executives' and 'business succession issues' among small and medium-sized enterprises, which account for 99.7% of all businesses and serve as the foundation of the Japanese economy. Cognitive decline in executives leads directly to sudden business closures, job losses for employees, and the contraction of local economies. To serve as a catalyst for resolving these issues, Tanabata Clinic Nagoya will host the 'Executive Brain Strategy Wellness Symposium' at the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
The New Concept: 'Brain Metabo®'
Reduced concentration, slower thinking speed, and memory loss may be signs of 'Brain Metabo®,' a state where the brain cannot effectively utilize the energy it needs. This symposium aims to shift the focus from treating symptoms to preventive care while one is still healthy, explaining brain health strategies from the perspectives of medicine and nutrition.
