Yoshida Domain Rice Warehouse Beer Garden to be held as Ehime's Earliest Summer Festival

The Yoshida-Mikame Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold the FY2026 Yoshida-cho Summer Festival, 'Yoshida Domain Rice Warehouse Beer Garden,' on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Honmachi, Yoshida-cho, Uwajima City.

The Yoshida-cho Summer Festival is cherished as the earliest summer festival in Ehime Prefecture and is a traditional event that heralds the arrival of summer in the region. This event features a beer garden that utilizes a historic rice warehouse built during the Iyo Yoshida Domain period of the Edo era, allowing visitors to enjoy cold beer and meals in an open-air space.

The beer garden, which was once a familiar seasonal attraction for the summer festival, had been suspended for many years due to labor shortages. However, responding to local voices wishing to bring back a place where people can enjoy the summer festival, it was successfully revived last year. Due to the favorable reception of the venue design, which makes use of the historic rice warehouse and the scenery of the shopping district, it will be held again this year.

The Yoshida Domain Rice Warehouse, which serves as the venue, is a symbolic building of the region that has stood in the Honmachi shopping district for many years.
