GooDayDANCHI Vol. 3: Proposing a Life Surrounded by Hobbies at Higashi-Fukuma Housing Complex – New Lifestyle through Hobbies × DIY

Gooday Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City; Representative: Takashi Yanase), which operates 67 'Gooday' home improvement stores in northern Kyushu and Yamaguchi, has implemented the third installment of its GooDayDANCHI project (housing complex renovation) at the Fukuoka Prefectural Housing Supply Corporation's Higashi-Fukuma housing complex in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

This initiative proposes a new lifestyle in housing complexes achievable through DIY, themed around 'a room surrounded by your favorite things.' Furthermore, it suggests new ways to utilize housing complexes through DIY space creation and community building.

The project redefines housing complexes not merely as 'places to live,' but as 'places to create, enjoy, and connect.'

The Higashi-Fukuma housing complex, the stage for this third installment, has an occupancy rate of only about 45% out of a total of 334 units.

Housing complexes are increasingly expected to serve not just as 'places to live,' but as: ▶ Spaces to enjoy hobbies ▶ Places to connect with the community ▶ Places to realize a lifestyle true to oneself

In the third installment, the project developed two model rooms that integrate hobbies and lifestyle beyond just living: (1) 'A room to enjoy coffee,' where you can enjoy a café-like time at home. Fixtures and tools are incorporated as 'display storage,' designing a space to enrich personal time. (2) 'A room to enjoy hobbies,' where you can immerse yourself in creative activities like knitting. By utilizing closets as workspaces or photography areas, the project achieves a comfortable environment for extended periods, leveraging DIY ingenuity.

These are spatial proposals designed to enrich 'personal time,' catering to diverse lifestyles such as singles, remote workers, and seniors. Furthermore, by incorporating DIY-friendly renovations like converting tatami to flooring, painting walls and kitchens, and turning closets into workspaces, the project proposes the joy that 'anyone can create a space.'

Gooday is re-proposing housing complexes not just as residences, but as 'places to create a lifestyle true to oneself.' Through DIY and hobbies, people gather and connect. The GooDayDANCHI project aims to expand the new possibilities of housing complexes.

Additionally, through workshops and community activities, it aims to create new customer touchpoints triggered by store visits and participation.

Gooday proposes DIY not just as 'making things,' but as an 'experience of creating a lifestyle.'

Future Developments The GooDayDANCHI project plans to expand to housing complexes in Kitakyushu City in the future, conducting renovations and community designs tailored to regional characteristics, and continuing to create new value for housing complexes.
