Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka; President: Hirotsugu Otomo) has been selected as a 'Supplier Engagement Leader'—the highest rating—in the CDP 'Supplier Engagement Rating' for seven consecutive years.
Based on its long-term environmental vision, 'Challenge ZERO 2055,' the group aims to achieve zero environmental impact across its group, global operations, and supply chain by 2055, the year of its 100th anniversary. As a key theme, it focuses on 'climate change mitigation and adaptation,' striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain.
In March 2018, the group received certification from the international initiative 'SBT.' In obtaining this certification, the company expanded the scope of greenhouse gas reductions in its business activities and product usage, while also setting reduction targets for its supply chain.
Moving forward, the group will continue to promote initiatives across procurement, business activities, and products/services to contribute to a decarbonized society.
Collaboration with Suppliers
Since fiscal 2018, the group has been actively collaborating with suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the entire supply chain. To encourage major suppliers to set SBT-level reduction targets, the company conducts 'Decarbonization Working Groups' for companies without set targets and 'Decarbonization Dialogues' to exchange views on environmental trends.
In fiscal 2023, the company raised the required reduction target level for suppliers from the '2°C pathway' to the 'Well-Below 2°C (WB2°C) pathway,' advancing collaborative efforts through higher targets. Going forward, the company will contribute to supplier emission reductions by proposing renewable energy and energy-saving solutions.
The group will continue to share its carbon-neutral strategy with suppliers, promote changes in awareness and behavior, and accelerate decarbonization across the entire supply chain.
