Aso Rehabilitation College engages in an educational partnership with the Fukuoka-based professional basketball team, Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka, to create opportunities for practical learning.
In this instance, students participated as operations volunteers at a game held at Teruha Sekisui House Arena. They played a part in running the venue, which hosted over 4,000 visitors on the day.
Students were involved in the entire operational flow, from pre-game preparations and attendee interaction to post-game cleanup. Their responsibilities included assisting at sponsor booths and providing guidance to visitors, which allowed them to practically learn how a large-scale event is managed.
In an environment with many visitors, students were required to be both quick and courteous, experiencing the importance of customer service skills and hospitality. Furthermore, by working in coordination with the team in a professional sports setting, they deepened their understanding of the communication skills and situational judgment required on site.
Previously, students' exposure to the professional sports scene was mainly through observing trainer duties. This time, it became a valuable opportunity to learn about the diverse roles that support game operations and the behind-the-scenes of team management from the new perspective of "sports management."
The college will continue to foster personnel equipped with both specialty and practical skills through hands-on experience in the field.
Aso Rehabilitation College aims not just for qualification acquisition but also provides learning opportunities in collaboration with actual sports sites. Through initiatives that cultivate practical skills by actively engaging with the community and society, beyond just on-campus learning, the school nurtures students' ability to be active in the field.
In addition to special classes and lectures by trainers who support athletes active both domestically and internationally, the school also creates opportunities for students to be directly involved in sports tournaments, where they can practically learn the knowledge and techniques necessary for athlete care.
Previously, students participated in the "Aso Professional School Group presents 1DAY Kumamoto High School Masters," an event co-hosted with the Kumamoto Prefecture Badminton Association High School Division as a pre-event for the "Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025" international badminton tournament. Students were involved in tournament operations and player support, cultivating practical skills required in the sports field.
