POUYUENJI KYOTO, a brand curating teas from around the world, and Kyoto Dye House SHOBIEN (Katsumi Shoten Co., Ltd.), founded in 1963 in Kamikatsura, Kyoto, and inheriting the traditional "rōketsu-zome" (wax-resist dyeing) technique, will hold the spatial installation project "A Palette of Tea" from July 10 (Fri), 2026, to August 2 (Sun).
This project is an attempt to expand tea from "something to drink" to "something to savor as a space."
By coloring the entire space of POUYUENJI KYOTO with rōketsu-zome, and making the colors created by dyeing resonate with the aroma, taste, and texture of tea, we will create a tea experience where sight, smell, taste, and touch are connected as one.
In addition to exhibiting noren (shop curtains), furoshiki (wrapping cloths), tapestries, and three-dimensional works, we will also offer limited-edition menus and textile products that match the exhibition. We will re-edit the culture of "dyeing," "wrapping," and "enjoying tea" passed down in Japan into modern lifestyles, and transmit new possibilities of traditional crafts and tea culture to the world.
Incorporating the technique and beauty of rōketsu-zome into modern lifestyles.
During the period, various products such as tapestries and furoshiki will also be sold.
Limited-time menu also offered to match the exhibition.
