Centering on Tokugawa Ieyasu's personal belongings, the "Sunpu Gobunbutsu," this private museum in Nagoya houses over 10,000 items passed down from the Owari Tokugawa family, founded by Ieyasu's 9th son, Yoshinao, who became the head of the three hereditary Tokugawa houses. The museum boasts masterpieces of Japanese art known worldwide, such as the National Treasure "Tale of Genji Picture Scrolls," the oldest existing illustrated scrolls, and "Hatsune no Chōdo," the most luxurious wedding trousseau for Chiyo-hime, the eldest daughter of the third Shogun Iemitsu, attracting many visitors from around the globe.
