Call for Entries Begins for School Emblem Design for "Shinsei Junior High School," Niigata Prefecture's First Night Junior High School

Niigata City will open Niigata Municipal Shinsei Junior High School (hereinafter referred to as Shinsei Junior High School), the first night junior high school in Niigata Prefecture, in April 2027.

A call for entries is now open for the school emblem design, which will serve as the symbol of Shinsei Junior High School.

Anyone can apply, and we look forward to receiving many submissions.

Selection Method

1. Finalist Selection

Based on the selection criteria, the Niigata City Board of Education Secretariat will select approximately five designs as finalists from the submitted school emblem designs.

2. Final Voting

The finalists will be announced on the city's website, and a final vote will be conducted via the internet.

Sentiment Behind the School Name

The character "Shin" (新) signifies "new" in Niigata City, as well as the "newness" of being the first night junior high school in Niigata City. It also embodies the wish for each student to add "new learning" to their life experiences and enrich their social lives.

The character "Sei" (星), meaning "star," conveys the wish for students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their dreams and hopes, shining brightly like stars in the night sky.
