Three paper distribution companies—Nippon Paper Trading Co., Ltd. (HQ: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Akihiko Watanabe), Japan Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. (HQ: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Hideomi Komai), and Shinsei Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Etsuo Sanpei)—have been strengthening joint paper logistics since April 2026 to improve efficiency, in response to driver shortages stemming from the '2024 Logistics Problem' and amendments to logistics-related laws.

While the three companies have previously implemented joint logistics in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the introduction of the 'Specified Shipper System' under the Logistics Efficiency Law (overseen by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) in April 2026 mandates further efforts by shipper companies toward logistics efficiency. Against this backdrop, the companies have built a new transport system targeting specific warehouses and delivery destinations.

Through this initiative, the companies aim to achieve 'improved loading efficiency,' 'reduced waiting times,' and 'shortened cargo handling times,' thereby improving the working environment for truck drivers, reducing the number of vehicles used, and lowering CO2 emissions through decreased fuel consumption. The companies remain committed to promoting logistics efficiency and building a stable logistics framework.
