3D Analysis Software 'Molcer Plus 2.0' Released with Enhanced CT Segmentation

The segmentation functions for data from X-ray CT, MRI, and other modalities have been enhanced, enabling more intuitive and accurate data processing.

A UI that 'handles 3D data in 3D'

Molcer Plus is processing and analysis software for 'voxel data (volume data)'. Voxel data includes stacks of cross-sectional images obtained from X-ray CT, MRI, confocal laser microscopy, etc., and is widely used in basic research and manufacturing for non-destructive testing.

In many software packages, the extraction of observation targets (segmentation) is performed by 'painting' on 2D cross-sections along the data axes. In contrast, Molcer Plus features a system freed from coordinate axes, allowing operations to proceed on a 3D-displayed model.

Its intuitive UI, based on interactive manipulation of 3D models, is a key feature.

Segmentation by Adjusting 'Voxel Values' in 3D

Image data from CT and other sources invariably contains noise and unevenness, hindering segmentation. The biggest feature of Molcer Plus is the 'Voxel Processing' function, which allows direct correction of these inaccurate image values (voxel values) on the 3D model.

The updated Voxel Processing function enables contour extraction while referencing the original data on any arbitrary cross-section in 3D. This allows segmentation to be performed while freely moving between the 3D shape and cross-sectional images.

For automatic shape extraction, functions such as 'Object Division', which automatically separates connected objects by cutting at constrictions, and 'Unevenness Extraction', which automatically recognizes bumps and dips of a specified size, can be used.

For manual segmentation by 'painting' on cross-sections, label regions can now be created by interpolating based on multiple cross-sectional shapes created in free orientations.

Rich Measurement Functions

In addition to easily performing basic measurements such as distance, angle, area, volume, and center of gravity, it can output information usable for morphological analysis, such as fitting to geometric shapes and registering landmarks.

By using the optional Particle/Void Analysis and Direction/Orientation Analysis functions, it becomes possible to output and analyze statistics for a large number of particles or voids at once, or to automatically extract objects with directionality.
