This special product is handled by Fukutaro, a long-standing manufacturer of mentaiko (spicy marinated pollock roe).

This premium mentaiko, which the store has not previously carried, will be sold with limited arrivals every Saturday, delivered as a special Hakata souvenir.

While typical mentaiko is frozen once after marination before distribution, "Freshly Made Mentaiko" is directly shipped from the factory to the retail store in a refrigerated state immediately after marination, without ever being frozen. The key features, made possible by never freezing, are its popping, "crunchy granular texture" and the fresh umami and richness inherent to the roe.

Marutome will receive arrivals of this product only on Saturdays each week.
