On May 25, 2026, the Tokyo Ohka Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology held the "2026 Awards, Grants, and Mukai Memorial Science Lecture" at the KSP Hall in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, with approximately 120 guests and attendees.

At the ceremony, the Mukai Award for this year was presented to two recipients: Hiroshi Nishihara, Director of the Global Neutral Energy Research Organization at the University of Yamanashi, and Michito Yoshizawa, Professor at the Laboratory for Chemistry and Life Science, Institute of Integrated Research at Tokyo Institute of Technology. They were awarded certificates, plaques, and supplementary prizes, followed by commemorative lectures on their research achievements.

Additionally, the event included the presentation of research grants to selected researchers and the announcement of their research results.

The Mukai Award is presented for outstanding research achievements that have made significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology. Recipients often include researchers who have achieved excellence after receiving research grants from the foundation.

The foundation was established in 1987 to commemorate the 88th birthday of the late Shigemasa Mukai, founder of Tokyo Ohka Kogyo Co., Ltd., with the support of the late Takeo Ito, the company's president at the time. It conducts grant activities aimed at promoting research, development, and exchange in the field of science and technology.

To date, the total amount of grants has reached 1.388 billion yen. As the foundation will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, it plans to further expand the scale of its grants.
