The "Kazenomori Bazaar" Vol. 2 will be held on July 18 (Sat) and 19 (Sun) at Suwa Dai Nana Park in the Suwa Nagayama area, the birthplace of the Tama New Town development in Tama City. The first event was held in February of this year and concluded with great success, attracting over 4,000 participants. Featuring a diverse lineup of local vendors from the Tama region, centered around Daisuke Kaminaga, a musician active both domestically and internationally and owner of "Kaze to Caravan," this new festival fosters encounters and exchanges through a variety of music and food, connecting Tama New Town to the world. It's a new festival enjoyable for both children and adults. This second event will be held as an evening market (Irish Night) and a morning market to enjoy the cool evening breeze.

The event is organized by the "Kazenomori Bazaar Executive Committee," sponsored by "Tama Minami Seikatsu Club Seikyo Machi Tama," and supported by "UR Urban Renaissance Agency" and "Buen Camino Inc.," with the endorsement of Tama City and the Tama Suwa Meitenkai (Tama Suwa Merchant Association).

Please come and experience the "now" of Tama New Town, where "always NEW in life" is the motto.

Suwa Meitenkai, born alongside Tama New Town in 1971, has seen a recent surge in new shop openings, creating a renewed sense of vibrancy. Among these, Daisuke Kaminaga, owner of "Cafe & Bar Kaze to Caravan" and a world-renowned shakuhachi player, along with Chinatsu Ito, an oil painting creator who loves the Suwa Meitenkai, will lead the gathering of approximately 20 unique shops from the merchant street and carefully selected local vendors for the second "Kazenomori Bazaar."

On Saturday, July 18, the "Evening Market" from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM will allow visitors to enjoy the summer evening cool. It will feature a full performance by "VARIOUS COLORS," a group of local children, followed by an "Irish Music Session" produced by Daisuke Kaminaga. This music, characterized by Celtic traditional melodies played repeatedly and lively dance rhythms, is an event where anyone can participate by playing their favorite instrument on the spot, dancing along, or simply listening. It's a fun event for everyone! *From 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, there will be an Irish dance session (a teacher will provide instruction, so beginners are highly encouraged to join).

Additionally, from 6:30 PM, a dream collaboration stage will feature Itsuki Okuyama, a native of Tama New Town, and the theater group "Karugamo Danchi." This musical play will reflect on the half-century history and warmth of Tama New Town, set in "Suwa, Nagayama."

Sunday, July 19, will feature the "Morning Market" from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The event will include a Miyu belly dance show for all ages, a performance by 15-year-old talented singer-songwriter Yuzuki, the creative performing arts group Kokinkakumeiza, and appearances by the heroes "Tama New Town Man" and "Guren Haou Arus!"

Visitors can interact with cute ponies at Shabericcho Farm (July 19 only), and Nagadon, the symbol character of Nagayama, will be present on both the 18th and 19th with acorn-themed ale!

In addition to "Kaze to Caravan," participating vendors include "Musubime," which creates spaces for parents and children in Suwa; "Kaigetsudo," offering baked goods made with Tama-produced ingredients; "Tama Minami Seikatsu Club Seikyo Machi Tama," providing tastings of safe and delicious food and drinks; "Watashi no Mushipan," featuring steamed buns made with Tokachi yeast; and "Tama University Atta Seiga High School." A total of 20 unique vendors will be present! Furthermore, within the Suwa Meitenkai, restaurants such as "modoki," a cafe and library with natural wine and a select shop, and the British-style cafe "PUDDLEBY" are also scheduled to be open.

Enjoy the live music performances while savoring the market offerings made with ingredients from the Tama region. We invite you to this special bazaar held in the "Kazenomori" of Suwa, where you'll be moved to sing and dance.

Since its inception in 1971, Tama New Town has been filled with "always NEW in life" news. In recent years, the Suwa Nagayama area has seen renewal in both its hard and soft infrastructure, including the renovation of large housing complexes. According to the latest survey conducted by Tama City, the vacancy rate in the new town area has significantly decreased*, with an increase in families in their 20s and 30s moving in. Participatory town development, driven by the initiatives of younger generations, is attracting diverse age groups. *6.0% (2016) → 4.7% (2024)

Please enjoy the "now" of Tama New Town, brimming with vitality and liveliness.
