Wakayama City (Mayor: Masahiro Obana) and Toyo Rice Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Wakayama City, President: Keiji Saika) signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on May 25, 2026. This marks the first large-scale collaboration for a core city centered on rice-based health and regional development. Key initiatives include providing 'Kinme Low-cut Brown Rice' to approximately 10,000 senior club members and 'Kinme Rice' to about 2,000 children in support facilities. Furthermore, 20 tons of 'Kome no Sei,' a nutrient-rich byproduct of the rinse-free rice process, will be provided annually to local farmers to promote circular agriculture. The agreement also establishes a disaster response framework for supplying rinse-free rice and conducting emergency cooking support, aiming to create new regional value through health, agriculture, and disaster preparedness.
