Comprehensive Partnership Agreement Between Susami Town and Toyo Rice
Susami Town, Wakayama Prefecture (Mayor: Tsutomu Iwata) and Toyo Rice Co., Ltd. (President: Keiji Saika, Wakayama City) signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on May 27, 2026.
### Concrete Initiatives In addition to the Kinmemai (a nutrient-rich rice processed with proprietary technology) supply for school lunches, which has been in place for six years, the town will introduce the 'Eco Green Capsule,' a rice storage unit developed by Toyo Rice. This will address the disadvantages of supplying small lots to remote areas, ensuring delicious rice is always provided while creating a regional disaster prevention model where stored rice can serve as an emergency stockpile. By shifting from monthly deliveries to bulk deliveries and storage for three months, the initiative aims to reduce transport costs and eliminate operational inefficiencies.
### Child-rearing and Health Support As part of support for children, the town will implement new projects, including the 'Maternity Support Project' aimed at helping pregnant women stay healthy both physically and mentally for healthy childbirth.
### Significance of this Model This initiative solves issues related to long-distance transport costs and minimum lot sizes. It is expected to be expanded nationwide as a model case for resolving food supply issues in small-scale municipalities.
### Scope of Cooperation Health promotion, food education, agricultural promotion, disaster prevention, information dissemination, and regional revitalization.
