【Win Japan's Best Eel!!】 Kagoshima Osumi 'Unagi Kaido' Campaign Launches June 20th!

Osumi Unagi Kaido 2026 Kickoff!!

The Osumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture boasts the highest eel production volume in Japan. In light of this, the DMO Osumi Tourism Future Conference Co., Ltd. is launching the 'Osumi Unagi Kaido Two-Part Campaign.'

During the period, visitors can enjoy a digital stamp rally, where they collect points by visiting renowned eel restaurants, tourist spots, and roadside stations, and an Instagram photo contest via the official 'Osumi Unagi Kaido' Instagram account. Winners will receive prizes including eel sashimi, grilled eel (kabayaki), and local Osumi specialties.

### Campaign Overview 1: Digital Stamp Rally The campaign runs from Saturday, June 20, 2026, to Monday, August 31, 2026. Participants can join by scanning QR codes located on posters at each participating spot to collect stamps. Participants can enter the lottery by collecting 2, 4, or 6 stamps. *Please note: To enter the lottery, participants must have earned points at a restaurant.

### Campaign Overview 2: Instagram Photo Contest The duration is the same as the stamp rally. Participants must take at least two photos—one of eel and one of the scenery at the target spot—and post them on Instagram with the tag '@osumi_unagikaido' in the caption.

### The Allure of Osumi Eel The reason Osumi Peninsula eel is so delicious lies in its 'water.' Abundant groundwater springs from the Kirishima mountain range, naturally filtered by volcanic ash soil (shirasu), resulting in pure and stable water quality. The eel, raised in this clean environment with stable water temperatures, features plump meat and rich fat. Producers are also committed to sustainable, circular aquaculture systems, ensuring safe and high-quality eel. A total of 32 spots are participating this year, offering a chance to enjoy the superb scenery of Osumi alongside exquisite eel dishes.
