Komi Bakery, headquartered in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, led by President Yuki Komi, will start selling 'Chou! Unagi Pan' (Super Eel Bread), featuring a whole eel from Kochi Prefecture, on May 20, 2026.

For nationwide shipping, reservations will be accepted starting May 20, 2026, via the 'Komi Bakery Online Order Site' for the time being. Store sales will be held for a limited time from May 21 to May 23, 2026. Following that, it will be sold on a reservation-only basis, with orders required at least three days prior to the desired pickup date. Sales are also planned for the 'Doyo no Ushi no Hi' (Day of the Ox) on July 26, 2026, via a complete reservation system.

'Chou! Unagi Pan' was created with the wish that 'bakeries should also liven up Doyo no Ushi no Hi.' The product combines eel kabayaki with bread. It uses eel grown in Kochi Prefecture. The eel is charcoal-grilled by professional chefs from 'Kitahama Shoten,' a specialty eel shop with over 85 years of history in Kochi. The product features an aromatic exterior and a fluffy interior. Visually, placing a whole eel on top of the bread creates a strong impact, while wrapping it in nori gives it a 'sushi-like' appeal.

The idea for 'Chou! Unagi Pan' was sparked by Kazuto Nishiyama, the bread and sandwich production manager, during his trip around Japan in 2023, where he discovered delicious ingredients in various regions.
