Kumamoto Volters and Sushi Jijiya will co-host the food education event 'Volters Kitchen' on July 18, 2026. The family-friendly event features sushi-rolling workshops and educational talks to promote local food culture and appreciation for sustainable dining.

Kumamoto Basketball Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture; Representative Director: Sato Yonokami; hereinafter 'Kumamoto Volters') will jointly host the food education initiative 'Volters Kitchen' with Jijiya Corporation (Headquarters: Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture; Representative Director: Yuki Ishikawa; hereinafter 'Sushi Jijiya') on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Sushi Jijiya Minamikumamoto store.

Participants, including parents and children, will experience a food education lecture by Sushi Jijiya and enjoy making their own futomaki (hand-rolled sushi). Kumamoto Volters' mascots will appear to cheer on attendees, and Volters-themed decorations such as small flags for sushi rolls will enhance the festive atmosphere, allowing families to engage with local food culture in a fun and interactive way.

On the day, Sushi Jijiya will deliver an educational session themed around 'freshly caught tuna,' explaining the importance of fish consumption and fostering gratitude for the lives that provide our food. This session will be presented in an accessible way for children. Additionally, a hands-on workshop will allow participating families to create their own hand-rolled sushi. Each roll will be wrapped in a limited-edition, Volters-inspired cover available only on this day, making the experience both memorable and culturally enriching.

Background of the Event

Guided by the philosophy 'Be the energy source that drives Kumamoto,' Kumamoto Volters has long promoted children's welfare and food education through its community kitchen initiative 'Volters Kitchen.'

This marks the first joint event between Kumamoto Volters and Sushi Jijiya, whose corporate mission is 'to deliver fresh, delicious sushi and smiles.' The shared vision of nurturing children's healthy development through food has brought these two organizations together.
