Announcement of Chugoku Bank Client Nishitetsu Co., Ltd. Achieving SBT Certification for Decarbonization Initiatives

Chugoku Bank (Head Office: Okayama City; President: Yoshinori Kato) has been offering the 'Chugokin Decarbonization Consulting' service (Note 1) since August 18, 2022, to support customers in their decarbonization initiatives.

We are pleased to announce that through this service, Nishitetsu Co., Ltd. (hereinafter 'the company') has calculated its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol (Note 2), and the reduction targets it has set have now been certified under the Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative (Note 4) for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The bank will continue to provide various solutions and support to assist the company in achieving its stated emission reduction goals.

(Note 3) Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions from the company's own operations (e.g., fuel combustion)

(Note 4) Short for Science Based Targets, a framework for setting corporate greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with the Paris Agreement and climate science.
