"Kyoto Gourmet Tour 2026 Summer" and "Tokyo Gourmet Tour 2026 Summer"

From August 1, 2026 (Sat) to September 30, 2026 (Wed), a delicious two-month period will begin, marking the 10th event in Kyoto and the 1st in Tokyo. The number of participating restaurants will be limited to 100 in Kyoto and 50-60 in Tokyo. "Gourmet Tour" offers limited-time special menus during the off-season, such as hot summers and cold winters when sales in the food and beverage industry tend to drop. These menus are intentionally not sold at a discount, but rather offered at easy-to-understand prices in 1,000 yen increments (tax and service charge included), set slightly higher than usual.

[Kyoto] Enjoy high-quality dishes from various genres! [Tokyo] A variety of limited-time special courses that can only be enjoyed here!

[Kyoto] Dishes full of personality from Michelin-starred chefs [Tokyo] A dish with a delicate and impressive flavor

[Kyoto] Enjoy Kyoto vegetables and various other types of vegetables [Tokyo] Enjoy meticulously prepared dishes until the end of the course

★By holding the event during the off-season, we aim to increase our contribution to the food and beverage industry★

◎What was the background behind planning the "Gourmet Tour"? Around the summer of 2021, the food and beverage industry across Japan was in an unprecedented situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. People couldn't move, couldn't go out to eat, and these days continued. During this time, we collaborated with MK Group, headquartered in Kyoto, to explore ideas on how we could contribute to Kyoto's food and beverage industry. Believing that a bright future would surely come after the dark times, we spent approximately six months in preparation and held the first event in mid-March 2022 in [Kyoto], aiming to convey the wonderfulness of dining out to as many people as possible, primarily targeting customers from Kyoto and surrounding prefectures.

A scene from the press conference for the first "Kyoto Gourmet Tour 2022 Spring," held while mask-wearing was still mandatory.

◎Increasing contribution to the food and beverage industry by continuously holding events with new ideas!

The first event was held for one month from March 18 to April 17, 2022, with 105 participating stores. It concluded with 4,447 customers, a cumulative sales of 29,513,000 yen, and an average customer spending of 6,637 yen. After that, as the restrictions began to ease, many opinions were raised that one month was "too short a period to go on a gourmet tour." Therefore, from the second event onwards, we decided to set a two-month period for each event. As a result, the number of customers, sales performance, and average customer spending all increased steadily.

"Spring" runs from January 20, after the New Year's events have settled, through March 19, spanning across months. "Autumn" runs from September 1 to October 31, a period of calm before the autumn foliage. These have been held continuously as annual gourmet events twice a year.

And so... Initially, we thought that the more participating stores there were, the more choices customers would have, which would be good. However, we realized that this way of thinking was mistaken...

Performance rapidly increased after limiting to 100 stores (scene from the "Kyoto Gourmet Tour 2024 Spring" press conference).

Since the 5th "Kyoto Gourmet Tour 2024 Spring," we limited the number of participating stores to 100. This led to a further increase in customer numbers, sales performance, and average customer spending, as well as an increase in sales per participating store. We have gradually found the right direction for a gourmet event to combat the off-season, which benefits everyone involved.

We have received many positive comments from participating restaurants, such as, "We are helped by the many first-time customers of Gourmet Tour!" and "The average customer spending is high, and Gourmet Tour helps us gain new regular customers!"

From the 6th event onwards, we have achieved significant results, with the total sales of "Gourmet Tour" limited courses for participating stores in the autumn event exceeding 100 million yen for two consecutive years. We have continued to hold the events, and by the previous 9th event, the cumulative number of users had grown to 72,782, and cumulative sales to 706,305,000 yen.

And then... as we were about to reach the 10th event...

● The path to expanding "Gourmet Tour" to Tokyo opens up!!

We met with Mr. Muteki San Dai, President of GuideME Japan Inc. (Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), who started his business as a university student and developed a guide service to cater to inbound demand.

Having spent his childhood abroad, Mr. Muteki began working as a guide in Kyoto as a high school student, taking the initiative himself. Leveraging his experience as a rare teenage guide who was valued by customers at the time, he founded GuideME Japan Inc. in his third year of university. While steadily building his track record in the tourism industry, he determined that "food" content was also important for customers. He felt that by collaborating with "Gourmet Tour," he could expand his contribution, and established AND Food Inc. to take charge of the new food-related field, with Mr. Jinpei Matsuda appointed as President.

● Increasing contribution to a brighter future with young talent!!

Currently, Mr. Muteki San Dai is 24 years old and Mr. Jinpei Matsuda is 25 years old. By collaborating with these young individuals (with their drive, adaptability, and breakthrough capabilities), we are confident that "Gourmet Tour" can continue to contribute for a long time to come.

In [Kyoto] and [Tokyo], two of Japan's leading cities, the demand for "food" is very high. Not only do customers come from the local areas and surrounding prefectures, but many also come from Tokyo seeking delicious Kyoto cuisine. Furthermore, the top five reasons for inbound tourists visiting Japan are "eating Japanese food," "bathing in hot springs," "sightseeing in nature and scenic spots," "experiencing history and traditional culture," and "shopping." Delicious Japanese "food" is the number one objective.

Given this, the affinity between "Gourmet Tour" and tourism companies like GuideME Japan and AND Food is high, and expanding the know-how cultivated in [Kyoto] to [Tokyo] holds significant meaning.

We will increase the contribution of "Gourmet Tour" to the food and beverage industries in [Kyoto] and [Tokyo].
