Released on May 25, 2026, by Sanctuary Publishing

This book explains the theory of sewing without pins, similar to how ready-to-wear clothing is made, for sewing enthusiasts. Designed as a guide to understanding the 'why' behind techniques, the book has received significant attention, leading to a decision for a pre-release reprint.

Furthermore, the commemorative lecture for the book launch reached full capacity immediately after registration opened, and we are currently adding more seats.

Sewing is popular, yet many struggle

Even with an abundance of sewing books and videos, many people still harbor frustrations: "I haven't improved despite years of practice," "It always looks homemade," or "Every step feels like a gamble." This book was planned not as a collection of patterns, but as a 'Sewing Textbook' to help readers understand the 'why' and the logic behind beautiful sewing without using pins.

Proprietary method based on pin-less sewing techniques

The author, Kaori Sone, worked as a pattern maker for apparel manufacturers after graduating from Bunka Fashion College. She questioned the difference between the clothing she made as a hobby and ready-to-wear pieces from factories. She then learned factory-made sewing techniques and worked on costumes for the Tokyo and Paris Collections. In 2004, she started the sewing school RANPI. Having instructed over 10,000 people, she now operates an online school for students nationwide. The book summarizes the logic of finishing clothes like ready-to-wear pieces without pins, covering content suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced sewists.

Pre-release reprint and additional lecture seats

The book received higher-than-expected response before its release, triggering a reprint. The commemorative lecture is also full, and additional seats are now being offered. The lecture will cover content not in the book, production secrets, philosophies for enjoying sewing, and attitudes toward craftsmanship.

Author's Comment | Kaori Sone

For the first time, I am presenting the 'theory of beautiful sewing' that I have been teaching for over 20 years in book form. Sewing is not just about making clothes. By understanding the reasons, you can identify why mistakes happen, learn to think for yourself, and make the process freer and more fun. I have heard many people complain that they don't get better despite years of practice. This book conveys not only techniques but also the mindset and theory to understand and enjoy sewing long-term. I hope it becomes a book that offers new discoveries to everyone, whether a beginner or a veteran.
