AT-GROUND SCAN
Attraclab Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 16-37 Fujikubo, Miyoshi-machi, Iruma-gun, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Tomoyuki Izu) has jointly developed the autonomous ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey system 'AT-GROUND SCAN' with iMeiyo LLC (Headquarters: 1-8-28 Ekinan, Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Member: Shukura Elvis Anup).
AT-GROUND SCAN is a subsurface survey platform integrating GPR, LiDAR SLAM, autonomous driving, and ROS 2, built on the AT-Crawler base. It efficiently surveys underground cavities and buried objects in roads, bridges, factories, plants, tunnels, and farmland, visualizing collected data in 3D.
Automating Subsurface Surveying
Conventional GPR surveys typically require personnel to manually push radar units, leading to operator fatigue and inconsistent data quality over large areas. AT-GROUND SCAN achieves labor reduction and high-quality data acquisition by autonomously conducting surveys at consistent speeds and intervals.
Modular Frame Design
The system features a modular frame compatible with various GPR models from different manufacturers. Customers can mount their existing GPR units, enabling flexible system configurations tailored to specific applications.
Flexible Surveying with ROS 2
ROS 2-based control allows fully customizable survey routes optimized for GPR operations. Users can define grid patterns, parallel survey lines, or arbitrary-shaped area scans. The ability to repeat identical routes makes the system ideal for periodic inspections and monitoring long-term changes.
High-Precision Autonomous Navigation with LiDAR SLAM
Equipped with 3D LiDAR and SLAM technology, AT-GROUND SCAN achieves high-accuracy self-localization even in GPS-denied environments such as indoors and underground facilities. It autonomously navigates along preset routes while avoiding obstacles, maximizing GPR performance.
3D Visualization of Subsurface Structures
By integrating GPR survey data with LiDAR-derived positional information, the system visualizes underground cavities, buried pipes, cables, and drainage channels as 3D maps. These visualizations support repair planning, maintenance management, and monitoring of structural changes over time.
Integration with AI
Future development will integrate the AI autonomous control system 'AT-SYNAPSE' to automatically detect anomaly candidates from survey data and autonomously re-survey areas requiring detailed inspection.
Target Applications
- Underground cavity detection in roads and bridges - Inspection of water, power, and telecommunications infrastructure - Facility inspection in factories and plants - Tunnel and underground facility surveys - Subsurface drainage and buried equipment inspection in farmland - Post-disaster subsurface structure assessment - Remote surveying in hazardous areas
Joint Development
This system was co-developed by Attraclab Co., Ltd. and iMeiyo LLC. Attraclab contributed expertise in AT-Crawler platforms, ROS 2, autonomous navigation, LiDAR SLAM, and AI integration, while iMeiyo provided specialized knowledge in GPR technology and subsurface surveying.
Future Developments
The two companies will proceed with demonstration projects in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure maintenance, and facility inspection fields. They also plan to advance product development incorporating AI-assisted surveying and targeting overseas markets.
