On the other hand, the suitability evaluation is high when the purpose is limited to items such as 'tires, car products,' 'outdoor products,' and 'temporary storage during moving,' and the need for practical item storage is expanding.
Additionally, there are many voices that prefer indoor-type for items such as 'precision equipment' and 'memorial items,' and in the future, the need for 'divided storage' according to the purpose is expected to expand.

Outdoor-type trunk rooms have a recognition rate of over 90% nationwide
The overall recognition rate of trunk rooms is 97.3% nationwide, indicating that the service is widely penetrated. In particular, the recognition rate of outdoor-type trunk rooms is high at 91.3%, surpassing indoor-type (57.0%) by 34.3 points.

In terms of trunk room usage experience, outdoor-type is 19.3% nationwide, surpassing indoor-type (12.3%). Following the recognition rate, there is a trend of outdoor-type being superior in actual use, and the difference is particularly widening in rural areas.

Chapter 2: Merits and Suitable Uses of Outdoor-Type Trunk Rooms
Outdoor-type has strengths in 'large storage' and 'car accessibility'
The good points of outdoor-type trunk rooms are that 'large items can be stored' is the most common nationwide at 63.5%. Additionally, 'can park a car and is easy to take in and out' (43.8%), 'the fee is relatively cheap' (37.8%) are also high, and there is a trend that practicality and convenience are evaluated.
'Can store large items' is the highest nationwide: Nationwide, it is 63.5%, and it is particularly high in Koshin (83.3%), Hokkaido (79.0%), and Hokuriku (73.7%). It is considered that the ability to store items such as tires, outdoor products, and large furniture is evaluated.
The ease of taking in and out by car is also highly evaluated: Nationwide, it is 43.8%, and in Chugoku and Koshin, it is 50.0%, in Kinki it is 47.1%, and in Kanto it is 45.2%. It can be seen that the compatibility with car use is a major attraction of outdoor-type.

'Suitable for storing 'items used outdoors' and 'large items'
It has been found that outdoor-type trunk rooms are strongly recognized as being suitable for outdoor use and large purposes.
Outdoor products are the most common: Nationwide, it is the highest at 59.0%, and it is high in Hokkaido (73.7%), Koshin (66.7%), and Hokuriku (63.2%). It is considered that the compatibility is high with bulky outdoor products such as camping and leisure products.
Tires and car products are also highly supported: Nationwide, it is 51.5%, and in Hokkaido and Hokuriku, it is 73.7%, and in Tokai, it is 64.2%. It can be seen that the compatibility is high with the need for storing seasonal tires and car products centered on car-oriented regions.
The suitability recognition for 'temporary storage purposes' is also strong: 'Temporary storage during moving' is 43.3% nationwide, and it is high in Koshin (66.7%), Shikoku (60.0%), and Chugoku (58.3%).
