Tingatinga Art Exhibition
At this exhibition, in addition to exhibiting and selling original works by Tingatinga artists currently active worldwide, such as Siwa Tingatinga and Maurus Malikita, two original works by the founder Edward Saidi Tingatinga (1932-1972) will be exhibited for the first time in Japan.
Opportunities for Edward's works to be shown in Japan are extremely limited, making this a highly valuable exhibition.

Popular Artists | Displaying Many New Works by Siwa Tingatinga!
The biggest highlight of this exhibition is the first public viewing in Japan of two original paintings by the founder who built the origins of Tingatinga art, Edward Saidi Tingatinga.
Furthermore, this exhibition features numerous works by his daughter, Martina Tingatinga, and his granddaughter, the popular artist Siwa Tingatinga.
It is structured to provide a panoramic view of the lineage of Tingatinga art from its foundation to the present day.
These collections offer a precious opportunity to experience the 'origin' of Tingatinga art, which has continued to influence many artists up to the present.
Displaying Many Works by Maurus Malikita, a Top Artist of the Tingatinga School
Multiple works by Maurus Malikita, an artist representing the Tingatinga school, will also be exhibited. Malikita won the Grand Prize at the Tanzania International Biennale in 2015, has received high acclaim at exhibitions overseas in Italy and China, and is known for his unique 'crowd painting' style, even gracing the cover of the Japanese magazine 'Weekly Toyo Keizai'. Opportunities to see his works displayed together in such volume are also extremely rare in Japan.

An Experience to Touch the Sensibilities of 'Authentic Tingatinga Artists'
This exhibition is not merely a display of African artworks; it is conceptualized around focusing on the artists themselves and providing an experience to touch the artists' sensibilities through their works. Tingatinga art is Tanzania's representative painting style, known for its vivid colors and bold compositions, but its appeal lies not only in the works but also in the background and philosophy of each artist.
At this exhibition, we provide a deeper understanding and experience by allowing visitors to touch the stories alongside the works.
