The regional support site "Seikatsu-Guide.com," operated by Wave Dash Co., Ltd., has announced the "National Ranking of Cities People Want to Live In 2026." This ranking is based on the preferences of 12,789 members of Seikatsu-Guide.com between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. While the top three cities remained unchanged, Setagaya Ward dropped out of the top five (4th to 7th), while Osaka City rose (6th to 4th). Kyoto City, another representative city in the Kinki region, also returned to the top ten (13th to 9th) after being outside the top ten previously. Osaka City's rise may be attributed to growth expectations from the "Umekita Area" redevelopment and the Integrated Resort (IR) plan. Additionally, the Osaka-Kansai Expo held in 2025 likely increased the city's recognition and attention. Kyoto City, which had faced discussions regarding the impact of surging inbound tourism on living environments, may have seen an improvement in its image and evaluation due to changes in its acceptance system. On the other hand, while Setagaya Ward has strong brand power, it may have had fewer growth expectations compared to other cities, which could be a factor in its lower ranking.
