Optage Acquires "Mobile Phone Numbers" and "PLMN Numbers" Towards Realizing Full MVNO Voice Services

Optage Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Osaka) announced that it has been allocated "mobile phone numbers (11-digit numbers starting with 070, etc.)" to be used for its mobile phone service "mineo" and "020 numbers" for data communication with IoT devices, etc., by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on June 24, 2026. Prior to this, the company had also been designated a "PLMN number (Public Land Mobile Network)" for identifying telecommunications carriers.

This allocation is a crucial step towards realizing a full MVNO business (hereinafter referred to as "voice full MVNO") that supports data communication, voice/SMS communication. Mobile phone numbers are used for voice calls and SMS services, and 020 numbers are used for data communication services for IoT devices; both are essential elements for the realization of voice full MVNO.

Optage is proceeding with the construction of its core network and studies for interconnection with other carriers towards the realization of a voice full MVNO that controls lines with its own facilities. In addition to mineo's unique voice call and SMS services through voice full MVNO, the company will work to provide more flexible service designs, new added value, and realize diverse data communication services, including the IoT domain.
