Kurogi, a renowned Japanese restaurant located in Shiba-daimon, Tokyo, will open its new branch 'Owari Sanso Kurogi' in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, on July 24, 2026. Chef Masanobu Yoshimizu (Yoshimizu Masanobu), who has accumulated extensive experience at the flagship 'Kurogi' and 'Shanghai Kurogi' both domestically and internationally, will take on the role of head chef. 'Kurogi,' known for pioneering a new style of Tokyo kaiseki cuisine, will deliver dishes that blend strength with delicate refinement.
The Mountain Villa Ambience
The interior generously incorporates building materials relocated from a traditional Japanese house over 100 years old. It features counter seating where guests can observe the chefs at work, along with eight private rooms, each with its own unique character. By embracing the natural textures of wood, stone, and earth, and integrating traditional elements such as window frames, latticework, and earthen walls, the space creates a serene atmosphere. Despite its location in front of Nagoya Station, it evokes the tranquility of a mountain retreat, offering a one-of-a-kind dining experience where the tradition and innovation of Japanese cuisine harmoniously coexist.
Nagoya-Exclusive Hot Pot Dishes
Specially developed for this location, the duck hot pot and seasonal hot pots are signature highlights, embodying the unique pleasures of a mountain villa. Guests can fully enjoy the evolving seasonal dishes and the fresh sensibilities unique to 'Owari Sanso Kurogi,' carrying forward the legacy of Kurogi. Both lunch and dinner menus will feature core Kurogi dishes alongside exclusive hot pot offerings, with content adjusted according to season and ingredient availability.
Signature Dishes of Kurogi
A special course exclusive to Nagoya combines iconic Kurogi dishes—such as the signature 'Cold Handa Noodles with Sea Urchin and Caviar' from the flagship restaurant, kakigori (shaved ice), and sesame tofu—with ingredients evoking Kyoto cuisine and local Aichi Prefecture produce.
Dinner Course: Sunomono / Warm Dishes / Sashimi / Grilled Dishes / Strong Dishes / Clay Pot Dish / Hot Pot (Exclusive to the Villa) / Dessert
